This week in my low buy challenge, the palette of the week was PUR Be Your Selfie. I received this palette in my Boxycharm last year and to be honest, wasn’t all that excited about it. My experience with PUR eyeshadow palettes has been, meh. They haven’t been pigmented, they didn’t blend well, and I was just very underwhelmed. So, when this is the palette that was chosen by random, I wasn’t excited. And full transparency, I thought about having the randomizer pick a different palette. But then I thought to myself, “no, this is exactly what this challenge is about!” So here we go!
First, let’s take a look at the palette…
There are 9 pans, 4 mattes and 5 shimmers. This palette is a warm neutral palette and it does have a mirror. The packaging is sleek and I feel may be travel friendly as long as it is protected. Like I said, I got mine in my Boxycharm subscription box last year, but this palette retails for $36 on the PUR website here.
So, what are my thoughts, you ask??
I was pleasantly surprised. This palette blended well, had good pigmentation, and was really easy to work with. It is a very soft neutral palette and I feel this is a great palette for beginners and/or soft, warm, neutral lovers.
You can see the 3 different looks I did with the palette on my Instagram page here (please follow me if you don’t already). My favorite color in the palette is confident. I placed that over top of a burgundy shadow stick with strong in the crease and I loved it. I think that was my favorite look of the three.
Overall, I think it is a good palette. I don’t have any complaints other than maybe the cost of the palette and that it’s limited-edition according to PUR’s website. I don’t know that I feel it is worth spending $36 on the palette when you can get the ABH Soft Glam palette for $42 or the Hangin’ in Hawaii palette ($16) or Mini Zodiac: Capricorn ($14) from BH Cosmetics (and typically BH has sales).
I will be giving the PUR Be Your Selfie palette to my sister because I like bold color or saturated, deep, smokey neutrals. This palette is just a bit too soft and dainty for what I like.
How about you? Do you have this palette? What are your thoughts?
On to week 3!
